Be One Homes Tenant Seeks Legal Help After Kitchen Ceiling Collapses Following Ongoing Water Leak

Be One Homes Tenant Faces Serious Damp, Mould and Water Leak Problems as Kitchen Ceiling Collapses

Housing Disrepair Helpline visited a Be One Homes property this week following reports of serious and longstanding disrepair affecting the home.

The tenant has reported problems with water ingress, damp and mould since 2023, with the conditions continuing to deteriorate. The problems are affecting both a downstairs bedroom and the kitchen, with an ongoing leak believed to be associated with pipework within the property.

Kitchen Ceiling Collapses Following Ongoing Leak

The situation has now become considerably more serious. According to information provided to Housing Disrepair Helpline, the kitchen ceiling collapsed on 24 September 2026 following the ongoing water ingress. The incident was reported to the landlord.

The downstairs bedroom has also suffered significant damage. Persistent moisture has resulted in wallpaper coming away from the walls, while damp and mould continue to affect the property.

The tenant says the problems have been reported on numerous occasions. At least one contractor previously attended, inspected the affected areas and suspected that the leak could be within the walls or pipework. Photographs were taken and the tenant was told that somebody would return to investigate the source and undertake repairs, but according to the information supplied, that follow-up visit did not take place.

Housing Disrepair Helpline Appoints Specialist Solicitor

Following our involvement, Housing Disrepair Helpline has now appointed the Be One Homes tenant with a leading housing disrepair solicitor to investigate the case and help the tenant pursue the repairs and any compensation to which they may be entitled.

Housing Disrepair Helpline has been helping tenants with housing disrepair problems for the past 11 years and has helped more than 25,000 tenants get their homes fixed and obtain compensation.

We regularly assist tenants experiencing problems including damp and mould, water leaks, defective roofs, plumbing problems, structural defects, pest infestations and other serious housing conditions.

Why Use a Claims Management Company for Housing Disrepair?

Using a specialist Claims Management Company (CMC) such as Housing Disrepair Helpline can benefit a claimant because a CMC can work with a panel of different solicitors who specialise in different types of housing disrepair cases.

Not every housing disrepair claim is the same. Some cases may involve extensive damp and mould, while others concern structural defects, serious leaks, defective heating or other complex repair issues. Having access to a panel of specialist firms allows Housing Disrepair Helpline to appoint a solicitor suited to the circumstances of an individual claim.

In this case, the tenant is now taking the next step towards seeking a resolution to the longstanding problems at their Be One Homes property, including the unresolved water ingress, damp, mould and damage caused by the collapsed kitchen ceiling.
