London Housing Association Tenant Appoints Housing Disrepair Solicitor Following Housing Disrepair Helpline Visit
Housing Disrepair Helpline visited a London Housing Association property this week after concerns were raised about a number of longstanding repair problems affecting the tenant’s home.
Following the visit, Housing Disrepair Helpline has appointed the tenant with a leading housing disrepair solicitor to investigate the reported problems and pursue the appropriate action.
The tenant’s name and address have been withheld to protect their privacy.
Problems with Windows, Bathrooms and External Steps
The tenant has reported a number of problems at the London Housing Association property, including deterioration to the bay windows in the living room. The inspection information records visible timber rot to the middle window frame, with the window problems reportedly dating back to 2016.
There have also been problems associated with the bathrooms. A previous leak from an upper-floor WC affected the ceiling below. Although the leak itself has reportedly been rectified, damage remains to the flooring around the WC, which appears to have been poorly laid. There is also deterioration to the enamel finish of the bathtub.
The property’s external steps have also been reported as having significant cracking and deterioration, with the assessment stating that they appear to have reached the end of their serviceable life.
More Than 10 Inspections Reported
According to the tenant, more than 10 inspections have taken place in relation to the problems at the London Housing Association property.
The tenant reports that some appointments have been missed or rearranged at short notice and that contractors attending the property have, on occasions, said they were unable to undertake the required works on the day.
A previous WC leak is also reported to have penetrated into the bathroom below and resulted in mould growth. A mould wash was subsequently undertaken and new flooring installed around the WC, although concerns remain about the quality of the installation.
The tenant has retained a WhatsApp trail relating to the reported problems and appointments, which may provide evidence of the history of the disrepair and attempts to have the issues addressed.
Housing Disrepair Helpline Appoints Leading Housing Disrepair Solicitor
Following its involvement with the London Housing Association property this week, Housing Disrepair Helpline has now appointed the tenant with a leading housing disrepair solicitor.
The solicitor can investigate the history of the problems, previous reports made to the London Housing Association, inspections and repair attempts, and what further action may be available to the tenant.
Housing Disrepair Helpline has helped more than 25,000 tenants get their homes fixed and obtain compensation over the last 11 years.
